Derbyshire Education Business Partnership (DEBP) set up partnerships between schools and businesses to provide young people with the opportunity to learn about work, for work and through work.

What do we do?

All the activities that the DEBP offer focus on the skills and qualities required in the world of work, which every young person has the potential to achieve with support from education and business. Here are examples of just a few activities currently taking place throughout Derbyshire.

• Mentoring - employers become positive role models to young people that may need extra support to achieve their full potential.
• Work Experience - a young person spends a period of time in a company developing the skills they will require in the world of work.
• Professional Development Placements - a teacher spends time in a business environment to develop their knowledge of different sectors and working practice to take back to the classroom.
• Visits from/to business - planned visits to a company or visits from business people into school give young people an insight into the world of work.

What are the benefits for businesses?

• It provides the opportunity for staff development.
• It can contribute to company objectives including corporate and social responsibility.
• It promotes a better understanding between education and business.
• It helps to develop a better prepared young workforce.
